After a long hiatus from editorial letter writing, Abe Ottolenghi is back. His most recent letter to the editor, Voucher Mess Compounds School-Funding Problems, appeared in the January 26 issue of the Columbus Dispatch. During his 11 years serving on the Worthington Board of Education during the 1970s and 1980s, Abe was a regular letter writer to the local newspapers and the Columbus Dispatch. He continued writing letters before and after he ran for Worthington’s state representative (District 21) in 2004, narrowly losing the race.

A 56-year resident of Worthington, who had a 31-year career as professor in Medical Microbiology at the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University, Abe has made many contributions to the community. Together with several other members of the community, Abe helped to establish a youth soccer program, which later became part of the Worthington's Cardinal Boosters. He also served as a member of the Circle of Grandparents with Worthington's Partners for Community and Character, where he discussed on a monthly basis the "Word of the Month," such as compassion, honesty, perseverance, with elementary school students in Worthington.
